Ms. Appelblom has been with the Swedish Police since 1987, holding managerial positions since 1995. She has a Master in Laws and a Master in Human Rights. 2014-2017 she was the Director of United Nations Standing Police Capacity, providing expert assistance to UN peacekeeping and political missions and UN country teams globally.

Ms. Appelblom is also one of the initiators and the founder in 2001 of the Nordic-Baltic Network of Policewomen. She was awarded the IPA World Police Prize in 2016 for her tireless work for human and women’s rights. Ms. Appelblom’s mother tongue is Swedish, and she is fluent in English and French and speaks some Italian.
